DR. KIJAJI SWEARS IN CC BADRU AND INAUGURATES NGORONGORO BOARD

The Commissioner for Conservation at the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCAA), Abdul-Razaq Badru, has been directed to ensure the Ngorongoro Conservation Area is effectively protected and conserved to allow its ecology to flourish while continuing to attract tourists and safeguard wildlife, forests, and other living organisms.

The directive was issued by the Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, Hon. Dr. Ashatu Kijaji, in Arusha during the swearing-in ceremony of the Commissioner and the inauguration of the Board of Directors of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority.

Dr. Kijaji stated that the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, H.E. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, has shown great confidence in the Commissioner, emphasizing that he is expected to provide strong leadership to the Authority in order to meet national goals, particularly the target of attracting eight million tourists nationwide.

“You are required to ensure that accommodation services are continuously improved by attracting investment that will increase the number of beds from 1,555 to 2,586,” said Dr. Kijaji.

She stressed that it is the Ministry’s expectation that, following his swearing-in and official appointment, the Commissioner will adhere to the given directives by diligently executing the Authority’s three core mandates in line with laws, regulations, procedures, and high levels of innovation, with the aim of restoring Ngorongoro’s prestige—building on the achievements recorded over the past seven months since his appointment.

Addressing members of the newly appointed Board, Dr. Kijaji congratulated them and urged them to effectively oversee the institution by implementing directives from Government leaders, conservation and tourism priorities outlined in the 2025 Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) Election Manifesto, as well as the National Development Vision 2050.

She further instructed the Board to ensure that staff members carry out their duties efficiently, guided by the principle of “Work and Humanity.”

While introducing the new Board, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, Dr. Hassan Abbasi, said that despite the members’ diverse professional backgrounds, they possess extensive experience across various fields. He expressed confidence that the Board will make a significant contribution toward achieving the Authority’s objectives for the broader benefit of citizens and the nation at large.
