NATIONAL FINANCIAL SERVICES WEEK CELEBRATIONS IN TANGA OFFER OPPORTUNITIES FOR RESIDENTS

 

The Acting Commissioner for Financial Sector Development at the Ministry of Finance, Ms. Dionisia Mjema, together with a coordination team, has held discussions with the Tanga District Commissioner, Hon. Dadi Kolimba, ahead of the 5th National Financial Services Week celebrations, which commenced yesterday and are set to be officially launched tomorrow at Usagara Grounds in Tanga City.


The meeting took place at the Regional Commissioner’s Office Hall in Tanga, where stakeholders discussed in detail the preparations and implementation of the celebrations, organized by the Government through the Ministry of Finance under the theme “Financial Education: The Foundation of Economic Development.” The event brings together various financial sector stakeholders from Tanga Region and neighboring regions.


Speaking on behalf of the Tanga Regional Commissioner, Hon. Dadi Kolimba affirmed the region’s commitment to providing full cooperation to ensure the success of the celebrations and the achievement of their intended objectives. He also called upon Tanga residents to actively participate in the event in order to access financial education and opportunities aimed at improving their economic wellbeing.


He emphasized that Financial Services Week serves as an important platform for citizens to gain financial literacy, increase awareness of formal financial services, and stimulate economic growth particularly for small and medium-scale entrepreneurs.


On her part, Ms. Dionisia Mjema noted that the main objective of the celebrations is to empower citizens to make informed financial decisions through financial education. She added that the event also provides an opportunity to connect microfinance institutions, banks, social security funds, and entrepreneurs, fostering collaboration and promoting financial inclusion across the country.


The National Financial Services Week celebrations are currently underway in Tanga City, aiming to deliver financial education to various segments of society as a strategy to strengthen individual economic resilience and national economic development at large.
