RUKWA BUSINESS COMMUNITY COMMENDS TRA FOR DOOR-TO-DOOR TAX EDUCATION INITIATIVE

 

Business operators in Rukwa Region have commended the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) for providing tax education directly at their business premises through a door-to-door outreach programme.

Speaking during the exercise, a businessman operating in Jangwani Street, Sumbawanga District, Mr. Joseph Ntulo, said the initiative has been beneficial as it has reminded traders of their tax obligations while also improving their understanding of various tax matters.

“I sincerely commend TRA. This is exactly what is need edofficers coming to listen to us and remind us of our obligations in a respectful manner. This approach encourages us to stay close to TRA and pay taxes voluntarily,” said Mr. Ntulo.

Many other business owners who were visited by TRA officers also praised the Authority for the initiative, noting that the exercise has enhanced awareness and trust. They further pledged to submit their tax estimates and pay taxes on time in support of national development.

On his part, the TRA Public Relations Officer, Mr. Macdonald Mwakasendile, said the ongoing door-to-door tax education campaign in Rukwa Region, which started on January 20, 2026 and will run until January 30, 2026, aims to provide taxpayers with comprehensive knowledge on tax matters.

He explained that the exercise also seeks to strengthen cooperation between TRA and taxpayers, as well as collect feedback and opinions from business operators in order to improve the quality of TRA services.

“This initiative helps us strengthen our relationship with taxpayers and allows us to receive valuable feedback and opinions aimed at improving our service delivery,” said Mr. Mwakasendile.

As this is the period for submitting tax estimates, business operators have been reminded to prepare and submit their tax estimates on time by visiting TRA offices. Those using online platforms have also been urged to submit their estimates promptly to avoid any inconvenience.
