The Tanzania Meteorological Authority has released the weather forecast for the next 24 hours starting at 9:00 PM on January 19, 2026, highlighting varying weather conditions across different regions of the country.

Regional Weather Outlook

Western Lake Zone (Rukwa, Kigoma, Tabora and Katavi):

Partly cloudy conditions are expected, accompanied by thundershowers over a few areas, with intervals of sunny periods.

Lake Victoria Zone (Kagera, Geita, Mwanza and Shinyanga):

Residents should expect partly cloudy weather, with thundershowers in some locations and occasional sunny intervals.

Southern Highlands (Ruvuma, Songwe, Mbeya, Iringa and Njombe):

The regions will experience partly cloudy conditions, with rain showers over a few areas and sunny periods at times.

Northern and Central Zones (Arusha, Manyara, Kilimanjaro, Dodoma, Singida, Mara and Simiyu):

Generally, partly cloudy conditions with sunny periods are forecast across most areas.

Eastern and Coastal Areas (Morogoro, Tanga and Dar es Salaam):

Partly cloudy conditions with sunny intervals are expected throughout the forecast period.

Coastal and Southern Regions (Lindi and Mtwara), including Pwani Region (with Mafia Islands), Unguja and Pemba Isles:

Weather conditions are expected to remain generally partly cloudy with periods of sunshine.

Short periods of strong winds reaching speeds of up to 40 km/h are forecast over some areas along the northern coast of the Indian Ocean, particularly in:

• Tanga
• Dar es Salaam
• Pwani Region (including Mafia Islands)
• Unguja and Pemba Isles

Residents, marine users, and small vessel operators in these areas are advised to take necessary precautions.
